Things to do

We are located near to lots of exciting places to visit.

The Staffordshire Hoard - There are now permanent exhibitions of the hoard in Birmingham and Stoke.

Easy access to the National Exhibition Centre and Birmingham International Airport. In Lichfield Dr. Johnson's Birthplace, Lichfield Heritage and Treasury Centre and Lichfield Cathedral are all close at hand. Only a quarter of a mile away the Roman remains of Letocetum from which Lichfield derived its name. Nearby we have Chasewater for watersports and bird watching, Cannock Chase Counntry Park with its deer and Forest Museum, the Earl of Lichfield's family home Shugborough with its open days in period costume and the Park Farm with a collection of rare breeds.

Further afield along the A5 we have Weston Park, the Earl of Bradford's 17th. century seat where various Steam and Motor Rallies, Game Fairs etc. are held. Once past Weston Park the A5 leads to Cosford Aerospace Museum and slightly further the Ironbridge Gorge with its open air museums and demonstrations.

In the other direction the A38 leads to National Memorial Arboretum then to Tatenhill and nearby Byrkley Park Garden Centre, a stopping place to learn about plants or enjoy a peaceful lunch. Further along there is Tutbury with the Castle and then on to Burton with National Brewing Museum of Brewing and Shire Horse Centre.

A ten mile drive to Tamworth will give a day out at the Castle, the Snowdome for indoor ski-ing or Drayton Manor Park and Zoo and its associations with Sir Robert Peel.

Walsall is approxiately six miles away with famous Leather Museum.

The area is rich in canals, Great Haywood and Fradley junction being two of my favourites, boats may be hired by the hour at Fazeley near Tamworth.

For those with a little more time Derbyshire is not far afield, Alton Towers with over 125 rides for the children, Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and Gulliver's Kingdom at Matlock are readily available.

You may prefer (as some of our guests do) to stay the night with us and have a relaxing day at nearby Hoar Cross Hall, a health spa set in a stately home.

You really need to spend at least a week at "Copper's End" and there will still be plenty left to see on your next visit. The more energetic might prefer a round of golf at one of the many local golf courses, The Belfry Golf Club is only 20 minutes away.
