Coppers End Guest House formally an Old 1930’s Local Police Station

Situated on the A461, the Walsall Road, 100 yards from Muckley Corner Island. Off the A5. 3 miles from the City of Lichfield and about 6 miles from Walsall. It is semi rural location on the right when coming from Walsall or on left when coming from Lichfield on level road. We are sorry we are unable to take guests pets but can of course welcome assistance dogs.

Introdution

We have 6 letting guests bedrooms, four with ensuite and two without, sharing a bathroom on the same floor just opposite the bedrooms. We only cater for Bed & Breakfast; to a quality evening meal can be obtained at several pubs/restaurants just 2/3 miles away at reasonable prices.

We have two ground floor rooms which are not strictly big enough to take wheel chairs. But we have in the past catered for people with wheel chairs in one of the downstairs rooms and they have found it adequate for a couple of nights.

We aim to cater for visitors who are capable of walking, even if with aide of walking sticks or walking frames. There is a Esso petrol station and mini Co-op shop open 24 hours a day, just opposite across the A461 approximately 100 yards away. Where newspapers, magazines, snacks and other sundry items can be bought.

Pre-arrival

There is an hourly bus service. 991/991a bus stops just close by and opposite.
The bus service does stop about 6 pm at night and does not run on Sunday except some Bank Holiday week-ends. Alighting at Muckley Corner.

Lichfield City Railway Station is 3 miles or 15 minutes by car. Lichfield Trent Valley Railway Station is 4 ½ miles or 20 minutes by car. There is a Taxi rank outside both stations or if the Taxi rank is empty a Taxi phone is available. There are several local Taxi services.

We can pick you up from the station if we have no other guest arriving by car at the same time as your train arrives. Unless you are prepared to wait until we are available.

Birmingham International airport is about 25 miles or 35 minutes away depending on traffic conditions. East Midlands International Airport is about 37 miles or 50 minutes away depending on traffic conditions.

Arrival by Car or Taxi and Car Parking Facilities There is a Blue, white and gold reflective sign which is illuminated at night outside our property.

Car Parking and Arrival

Entrance off the A461 is via a level gravel car park for about 8 cars, if parked considerately. With no marked parking bays. The car is well lit at night by flood lights. When they go out, there are motion sensor lights to aid security.

If you have come by cycle, motor cycle, classic car, or electric powered car a garage space is available with charger point. Also available for Mobility scooters and Golf carts. There will be a small charge for this.

The entrance into our Guest house is gained directly from the gravelled car park via a wooden ramp which is covered in non slip felt. With two white metal grab handles either side of the storm porch. Which is lit at night by a ceiling light. The floor covering is carpet tiles.

Welcome Area

The wooden front door is 33 inches (84cm) wide entering in to the storm porch. The sill or step is only 1 inch (2.5cm) high.

The door leads to the reception hall where guests are welcomed which is level though out and with short pile carpet and is well lit with ceiling lights. The door is 32 inches (84cm) wide. There is a reception table where guests are asked register. We can assist with guest’s luggage. And like to show you to your room and how everything works in your bedroom.

Bedrooms

Guests bedrooms

All bedrooms have a brass number on the door. All the Orthopaedic mattresses were recently replaced and are excellent quality. The beds are made up with clean sheets, blankets, bedspreads and hollow fibre pillows, if however you prefer duvets, they can be provided upon request.

All bedrooms have clearly outlined white skirting board to distinguish between the walls and floor.

Bedroom1

Has a view of the car park and fields beyond. Is a ground floor bedroom opens to the right of the entrance hall, just opposite the Guests TV. Lounge. Though the level doorway, the door is 291/2 inches (74 cm) wide.

It has a double bed 26 inches (66cm) high and can be approached from both sides. The floor is carpeted in short piles carpet. Seating is provided for 2 people. There is Colour TV with remote control with subtitles. A hospitality tray, hair dryer and luggage rack. Also a safe situated in the wardrobe. There are bedside tables as well as the wardrobe. Lighting is by ceiling light and two bed side lights.

The is level entry into the ensuite shower room though a wooden door 28 inches (71 cm) wide. The shower has a step of 7 inches (18 cm) high and a bi-fold door 37 inches (94 cm) wide. There is a white grab rail, fitted on the left of the shower.

The toilet 16 inches (40.5 cm) high. The vanity basin is 30 ½ inches (77.5 cm) high. The floor is covered in short pile carpet. The walls are tiled floor to ceiling.

Lighting is by ceiling light and a strip light with shaver point. A double hook is provided on the left just inside the door.

Bedroom 6

Has a view of the car park and fields beyond. This room has its own entrance to the left of the car park, up a wooden ramp covered in non-slip felt. Though a blue door, the sill is 5 inches (12.5 cm) high and 28 inches (71 cm) wide. There is also level entry is by way from the kitchen and though the laundry from inside the house. Please note the door opens out of the bedroom. The floor is covered in short pile carpet. The bedroom has a flashing beacon for those guests who are hard of hearing. The twin beds are 27 inches (68.5 cm) high and can be approached from both sides even when bolted together. There is a wardrobe and bedside tables and additional table. There is a flat screen Colour TV with remote control with subtitles. Hospitality tray, hair dryer and luggage rack. A safe situated in the wardrobe. Lighting is by ceiling light and two bed side lights.

Level entrance is gained via a wooden door to an ensuite shower room 29 inches (73.5 cm) wide. The walls are tiled floor to ceiling. Short pile carpet again covers the floor. The shower has a step of 12 inches (30.5 cm) high. The door is 17 inches (43 cm) wide. The toilet is 16 inches (40.5 cm) high. The vanity basin is 31 inches (79 cm) high. The lighting is by roof light by day and ceiling light and a strip light with shaver point. A double hook is provided on the right just inside the door.

Upstairs

The upstairs bedrooms 2, 3 and 4 and the shared bathroom are accessed by means of an easy tread staircase. With 14 steps each are 8 inches (20 cm) high, it opens on to a return landing. With hand rail running up the left hand side of the stairs.

Bedroom 2

Has a view of the garden with twin beds 28 inches (71 cm) high, they can be approached from both sides and can also be bolted together. The vanity basin is situated in the wardrobe nearest the window and is 33 inches 84 (cm) high.

The furniture consists of a large wardrobe, one bedside table and a chest of draws. It has short pile carpet. The room is fitted with Colour TV with remote control with subtitles.

Seating for 2 guests. A hospitality tray, hair dryer and luggage rack. A safe situated in the wardrobe. Lighting is by ceiling light, one bed side lights, a concealed light and a strip light & shaver point. It shares a bathroom with one other bedroom, Room 3

Bedroom 3

Has a view of the garage and garden with a double bed 24 inches (61 cm) high, they can be approached from both sides. The vanity basin is 30 ½ inches (77.5 cm) high. The furniture consists of wardrobe, two bedside tables and two chests of draws. Seating for 2. Again short pile carpet.

The room is fitted with Colour TV with remote control with subtitles. Hospitality tray, hair dryer and luggage rack. A safe situated in the wardrobe. Lighting is by ceiling light, two bedside lights and a strip light & shaver point. It shares a bathroom with one other bedroom, Room 2

The Shared or Family Bathroom with Corner Bath

Level entry is gained to the shared bathroom via a white painted wooden door which is 27 inches (68.5 cm) wide. The floor is short pile carpet. The two ended corner bath is 22 inches (56 cm) high. The vanity basin is 32 inches (81.5 cm) high and the toilet is 17 inches and a bidet. Lighting is by over ceiling light. There is also a shaver point under vanity unit on the left. The walls are tiled floor to ceiling and there is a double hook on the back of the door.

Bedroom 4

Has a view of the car park and fields beyond with a double bed 27 inches (68.5 cm) high, it can be approached from both sides. The furniture consists of two wardrobes, two bedside tables, and a chest of draws, a table and seating for 2. Again short pile carpet. The room is fitted with flat screen Colour TV with remote control with subtitles.

Seating for 2 guests. A hospitality tray, hair dryer and luggage rack. A safe situated in the wardrobe. Lighting is by ceiling light, two bedside lights. A white painted door 27 inches (68.5 cm) wide, leads with level entry into the ensuite corner bath and separate shower. Which is carpeted in short pile. There is a step up of 5 inches (12.5 cm) up to the bath and shower. The corner bath is 19 ½ inches (49.5 cm) high and the entrance to the separate shower 6 ½ inches (16 cm) high and the tri-sliding shower door is 14 inches (35.5 cm) wide.

The vanity basin is 32 inches (81.5 cm) high and the toilet is 17 inches (43 cm) high. The walls are tiled floor to ceiling. And there is a double hook on the wall to the left near the bath. Lighting is by ceiling light and a strip light with shaver point.

Bedroom 5

This room is accessed though a door 24 ½ inches (61 cm) wide up its own 13 stairs which are 7 inches (18 cm) high, with a hand rail up the left side of the stairs. At the top of the stairs, to the right is the bedroom; to the left is the ensuite shower room. The bedroom is carpeted again in short pile carpet. The roof slops in on the bedroom.

The twin beds 26 inches (66 cm) high can only be accessed from the middle of the room. The is a chest of draws, one bedside table and seating for one. The room is fitted with Colour TV with remote control with subtitles. Hospitality tray, hair dryer and its own convector heater. Lighting is provided by a ceiling light and two bedside lights.

Entrance is gained to the ensuite bedroom though a white painted wooden door 23 inches (58.5 cm) wide. The floor is again short pile carpet. The shower tray is 9 inches (23 cm0 high, the vanity basin is 31 inches (79 cm) high and the toilet is 16 ½ inches (42 cm) high. There is a wardrobe with safe inside, an electric towel rail. Lighting is by way of two spots and strip light and shaver point. The children seem to love it up here and fit adults.

The Shared or Family Bathroom with Corner Bath (Shared with room 2 & room 3 Level entry is gained to the shared bathroom via a white painted wooden door which is 27 inches (68.5 cm) wide. The floor is short pile carpet. The two ended corner bath is 22 inches (56 cm) high. The vanity basin is 32 inches (81.5 cm) high and the toilet is 17 inches and a bidet. Lighting is by over ceiling light. There is also a shaver point under vanity unit on the left. The walls are tiled floor to ceiling and there is a double hook on the back of the door. A white painted door 27 inches (68.5 cm) wide, leads with level entry into the ensuite corner bath and separate shower. Which is carpeted in short pile. There is a step up of 5 inches (12.5 cm) up to the bath and shower. The corner bath is 19 ½ inches (49.5 cm) high and the entrance to the separate shower 6 ½ inches (16 cm) high and the tri-sliding shower door is 14 inches (35.5 cm) wide.

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

Storm porch is lit at night by a ceiling light. The floor covering is carpet tiles. The Hallway is lit by two three branch ceiling light. The floor covering is by short pile carpet.

Upstairs

The upstairs bedrooms 2, 3 and 4 and the shared bathroom are accessed by means of an easy tread staircase. With 14 steps each are 8 inches (20 cm) high, it opens on to a return landing. With hand rail running up the left hand side of the stairs.

The return landing is lit by a three branch ceiling light and a wall light with low level lit bulb with stays on all night. Room 5 is accessed though a door of the landing 24 ½ inches (61 cm) wide up its own 13 stairs which are 7 inches (18 cm) high, with a hand rail up the left side of the stairs.

Public Areas - Lounge

TV/Guests Lounge

Has level entry of the entrance hall, via a wooden door 32 inches (81.5 cm) wide. There is plenty of seating for 9 guests on various high chairs and settees from 17 inches (43 cm) up to 21 inches (51 cm). There two occasional tables in the middle of the room and a sideboard. The floor covering is you’ve guessed it short pile carpet. It also has a Colour TV with DVD and Video Player. And a living flame effect electric fire.

Lighting is by way of 6 wall lights, a standard lamp and a table lamp.

Dining Room

Conservatory Dining Room/Breakfast Room

The Breakfast room/ Conservatory Dining Room is situated at end of the entrance hall to the left under the stairs. The level entrance is via a wooden door which is 28 ½ inches (72.5 cm) wide. Again fully carpeted with short pile carpet. The conservatory faces east so you get the morning sun flooding into the breakfast room. Lighting supplemented by overhead lighting and ceiling fans. Seating for up to 14 guests round 4 pine wood tables. There is a teak cabinet where guests can help themselves to about eight different cereals and four different fruit juices. Fresh Fruit and yoghurts as well as a full English Breakfast or vegetarian equivalent is available.

Garden

Walled Garden

To the rear of the property is a large walled garden accessed from the concrete Patio. The patio is access in turn from the conservatory by the door on the left which is 23 inches (58.5 cm) wide. Via a ramp there are two steps up to the door from the patio. The first one is 2 inches (5 cm) and the second one is 9 inches (23 cm). On the patio are two patio tables & eight patio chairs. Guests may use this area as designated for smoking. An ash tray can be provided. The garden has steps or a ramp off the patio, it has a flat walkway all round and has a flat central lawn-ed area with trees in the centre of that.

  • *There are ‘In case of Fire notices on the back of some of the bedrooms and on The others they are placed on the wall by the door.
  • *There is an information folder for each bedroom with maps and other local information. Some more ‘What on in Lichfield’ and ‘Visit Lichfield’ brochures are available, if someone has taken them from your folder. Please ask.
  • *We have a selection of local restaurant available for quests’ perusal.
  • *Free Broadband and Wi-Fi are also available please ask for the code.
  • *We have storage/drying facilities for golfers, cyclists and walkers equipment.
  • *We can refrigerate medication, perishable food or drinks in our fridge for a limited period.
  • *As already mentioned, we are happy to cater for special diets. Please advise us before arrival.
  • *Mobile phone reception, this is a sturdy well built Police Station, some guests may experience some networks connection problems sometimes.
  • *All light bulbs are low-energy.
